Also, she was a dual-sport player for Brockport, where she played soccer and lacrosse. Norman excelled as a soccer player at Brockport and was on the defensive end of the pitch. Norman was known as an outstanding defender in Brockport. There she was on the defensive side of the ball. For 2012, the Lady Lakers will benefit from the intangibles that the freshmen bring to the team. The combination of her ability to defend the basketball at an elite-level as well as her positive outlook gives her a huge advantage in her debut year with Finger Lakes. Her heritage is Mexican-American as well as an American through nationality. From a young age her drive to become engaged in sport was strong. Gerina began playing golf when she was 15. Gerina was a student at Goddard High School for her high school education. In high school she was the winner of the New Mexico Golf State Tournament. She was a volleyball player and was also a participant in state tournaments. In the year 2003 she enrolled at the University of Texas. Through the latter years of her career, she had won every tournament that she participated in. While in her undergrad seasons, she won Conference USA's individual player of season and UTEP's Female Athletic Champion of the Year.
